Last Friday I attended the Mother’s Day tea in Kara’s kindergarten class. Kara greeted me at the door and gave me a handmade bouquet of paper flowers. During the Mother’s Day tea, Kara’s teacher passed out the personal yearbooks that I had created for each child to each mom. I got the idea for the personal yearbooks from Becky Higgins years ago. Every year we give my children’s teachers a scrapbook during teacher appreciation week. The scrapbook contains layouts of all the major events for that school year. The process is pretty easy for me. First, I create digital scrapbook pages for my children’s school scrapbooks. The layouts have mostly pictures of my kids in them. Last year, a company from the Netherlands bought a commercial use license for my Best Friends Forever Kit to design a planner. Earlier this week I was surprised to find one of the finished planners in my mailbox all the way from the Netherlands! It was such a thrill to hold in my hands a product using my designs! My kids have less than 5 weeks of school left! I am in the midst of finishing up teacher scrapbooks, an end of year class video and my children’s school scrapbook pages and memorabilia for the year. Since I got my Samsung Galaxy SIII Android phone last fall, the majority of our photos have been taken by my phone. One of my favorite free apps for making photo collages is PhotoGrid.
