I am Vietnamese so I celebrate the new year of the lunar calendar as well as the January 1st New Year. When I was a child I loved all the things associated with the Vietnamese New Year – special foods, festivals, lion dances and little red envelopes full of money! As an adult I like to have all my ducks in a row to start out the new year on a good note. This means my house gets organized/cleaned and no projects or tasks are left unfinished. My husband is not Vietnamese but he knows how I get this time of year and he humors me. This year the Vietnamese New Year falls on February 3rd which also happens to be my son’s second birthday.
On my huge to-do list is to backup all our photos and computer files. I have 3 cameras – a digital SLR, a point and shoot and the camera on my cell phone. The digital SLR and the cell phone camera are new in 2010. All three devices have different download options and they don’t all end up in the same place on my computer. I merged all the photos into one area, sorted them into folders by date/event and then got rid of the duplicates and photos that I don’t like. The final result was 7248 photos. I am currently in the process of backing them up to my EHD and to DVDs.
When I started digital scrapbooking about a year ago, I bought a lot of kits and downloaded a lot of freebies. Now that I know what my style is and how I use papers and elements, I know what I will and won’t use. I went through my digi stash and deleted all the things that I don’t think I will need. It was very liberating to let it all go!
Please remember to backup your photos and your digital scrapbooking layouts/supplies! You don’t want to lose any of your precious memories.
Now I must get back to all my cleaning and organizing! 🙂
