Last month my children spent 3 days at my in-law’s house while Steve and I went to a wedding. My mother-in-law loves to take pictures so there was no shortage of photos for me to scrap. The only problem was that I was not there during those 3 days so I had no idea where the four of them went or what they did. My solution was to ask my mother-in-law to write a letter to my kids about what they did during those 3 days. I have used this type of journaling before and love it because it is directed at the recipient (my children) and it recalls all the details from the perspective of the writer (my mother-in-law). Instead of the photos being the focus of this layout, I put the focus on the letter.

Long after my mother-in-law or I am gone, my children will have this letter from their grandmother to remember and cherish.
kelly what a fantastic idea. I love it. And your in laws are so wonderful to take so many pics and write the letter. Very cool ๐
Thanks Bridget. My MIL loves to take pictures and her bird photos have been published in several birding magazines.
