DAD Accordion Fold Father’s Day Card

May 11, 2015 By Kelly 29 Comments

My husband is a great dad to our kids. He loves getting handmade gifts from them for his birthday and Father’s Day. I thought I would help the kids out by designing an accordion fold DAD Father’s Day card. This project is perfect for the May Silhouette Challenge theme of gifts.

The free cut file for the DAD Father’s Day card is available available in SVG and Silhouette Studio formats. Download the one you need:

  • Silhouette Studio version 3
  • Silhouette Studio version 2
  • SVG

These free cut files are for personal use only.

I used to read the Creating Keepsakes magazine when it was still in print. Becky Higgins had a sketch in each issue and then several scrapbookers would interpret the sketch to create a layout or card. In a similar fashion, I designed this cut file and you will get to see it three ways.

My dad is a no frills kind of guy so I created a simple card for him with paper from the My Guy Stack from Die Cuts With A View, a single ribbon and 3 buttons. free cut file for a DAD accordian fold Father's Day card - in Silhouette Studio and SVG formats

My kids looked through my scrapbook stash but couldn’t find paper they wanted to use. I took them to the craft store and they both chose paper from Paper Pizzazz. When we got home, I let them pick a coordinating color of cardstock for the base of the card. They both picked the same cardstock as usual. Then the kids used my Silhouette Portrait to cut out their card. I got out adhesive, pipe cleaners, washi tape, rhinestones, buttons and ribbons.

Colin became engrossed in what he was doing. He was no talk and all business.

Kara was very social and talked to me about everything she was doing.

This was Colin’s masterpiece.

The pipe cleaner circle on top of the A is a 3 dimensional crown. He also told me there are several hidden Mickeys on his card for his dad to find. You can see that he likes to add bling to his crafts.

This is Kara’s Father’s Day card creation.

She likes to be symmetrical just like me. The green pipe cleaner along the bottom border is supposed to be grass. Kara also has hidden Mickeys on her card. The kids have been been obsessed with hidden Mickeys ever since our last Disney cruise.

This Father’s Day card designs folds flat for mailing.

Cute card. If you cut it as an SVG do you need to cut it once of twice. Having problems putting it together. Sorry newbie here. Thanks

Hi Cindy. You cut everything one time. The connected part DAD is the base of the card. We used cardstock for that. The individual letters below it are the insides of the letters. We used patterned paper for that part. Hope that helps!

    Kelly,

This card is awesome. I am going to download so my son can decorate for his dad. Creating gifts is a great way for kids to show their love and also spend time giving back rather than just spending money. I believe it teaches them to be giving in spirit.

    Thanks for the file!
