I received an awesome free craft kit from Shop Laura Kelly but all ideas and opinions are my own. During the summer, I like to do activities with my kids to keep them learning while having fun. When I was in middle school, my friend and I had a spiral bound notebook that we passed back and forth to each during the day in between classes instead of writing single notes. My daughter’s best friend forever (BFF) lives within walking distance of our house. I thought it would be fun if we went old school this summer and had Kara and her BFF write notes to each other in a BFF summer notebook.
I already had the BFF summer notebook idea when Kara and I looked through the crafts in Laura Kelly’s Shop. When I saw the button composition book journal kit, I knew it would be perfect for this project. We received the kit from Laura about a week later. Here are the contents of the kit. I love the hot pink that contrasts so well with the grays of the papers and the black of the composition notebook.
Kara sat down one night before dinner and created her BFF summer notebook in about 10 minutes. She designed and put it together on her own.
Everything she needed except scissors and a pencil was included in the button composition notebook kit.
Kara also added a photo of herself and her BFF. As a scrapbooker, I’m thrilled that she thought to personalize the notebook with a photo. Notice how perfect the words are on the gray paper for a BFF themed notebook.
I loved the convenience of having the button composition book shipped right to our door.

This BFF summer notebook has been in circulation for three days and it has already been passed back and forth five times! The girls are so cute and ask each other questions in their notes to each other. I am so glad that keeping Kara writing this summer will be so easy! This is such a fun idea! Growing up my BFF lived just two houses down and I know we would have LOVED something like this. I bet the girls will have such a blast with it all summer, and also love it as a keepsake years from now!
