My kids are 7 and 9 but are still obsessed with their toys on the refrigerator. They don’t often see my adorable niece who lives on the opposite coast of the country from us. I thought it would be fun to create a photo puzzle of the three of them together for the refrigerator. I used the Silhouette because the precision cutting is necessary for the puzzle pieces.
This quick photo puzzle craft is perfect for this month’s Busy Activities edition of Craft Lightning (crafts that can be completed in 15 minutes or less) hosted by the County Chic Cottage, 30 Minute Crafts and Glued To My Crafts.

Open the 4×6 puzzle design in Silhouette Studio.
Drag your photo from your computer or laptop desktop into the open Silhouette Studio document. My photo was huge when I dragged it into Silhouette Studio. I went to the Scale window and changed the size of the photo to 4.25 inches for width and 6.375 inches for height.
Move the photo over the puzzle design. The photo covers up the puzzle design so right click on the photo and choose Send To Back in the pop up menu.
I moved my photo around and resized it a bit because I didn’t want any of the children’s eyes to be too close to a cut line. Keep in mind where the cut lines lay when when placing the photo.
Turn on the registration marks for print and cut using the Silhouette. The registration marks help the Silhouette know where to cut on the printed magnet paper. To turn on registration marks, go to the Registration Marks window and choose Type 1 under Style.
Next print the photo out onto the white side of the printable magnet sheet. I used the “best photo” option on my printer for the best results.
Next put the printed magnet sheet on the Silhouette mat and load it into the Silhouette machine.
Change the cut settings on the Silhouette to cut the printable magnet sheet. Choose Silhouette->Cut Settings from the menu. Then select Printable Magnet Sheet for the Material Type.
Adjust the blade depth and choose Send to Silhouette to cut the photo puzzle pieces.
The pieces are perfectly cut.
The photo puzzle of the cute cousins is complete and displayed on my refrigerator door. I left the puzzle on there and the kids noticed it right away! This photo puzzle would make a great Father’s Day or Mother’s Day gift too.
