This paper medallion flower bouquet project is sponsored by Ball® Canning but all ideas and opinions are my own. For Mother’s Day, my blogging friends and I have created Mother’s Day themed projects featuring the new Ball® Elite Collection Mason Jars. I love the crystal blue color so much that I couldn’t bring myself to cover it up. Don’t forget to enter to win an entire case of Ball® Canning mason jars (in your choice of size) at the end of the post.
I thought about my favorite Mother’s Day gifts and they are paper flowers that my kids made for me in preschool and kindergarten. These are my favorite because they have lasted through the years. The handmade flowers sit in a mason jar on my desk right next to my laptop. These flowers are what inspired this paper medallion flower bouquet that I made for my mom. The center of the flowers contain photos of my mom, her children and grandchildren.
Supplies
- one Ball® Elite Collection Mason Jars (quart)
- two 12×12 sheets of patterned card stock
- one 8.5×11 sheet of coordinating card stock
- photos
- 1.5 inch circle punch
- 1.75 inch circle punch
- hot glue gun and hot glue
- paper adhesive (I use ATG tape glider)
- scoring board
- paper trimmer
- washi tape
- two 1/8 inch hardwood dowels (36 inches in length)
- clear decorative pebbles
Instructions
Use the 1.75 inch circle punch to punch out 6 circles in the coordinating card stock. Punch out the photos using the 1.5 inch circle punch. Use the punch upside down for proper placement of the photo.
Use paper adhesive to adhere the circle photo on top of the card stock circle.
Cut the 12×12 card stock into paper strips 12 x 1.5 inches. Two paper strips will be used for each flower. Use the scoring pad to score the paper strips at 1/2 inch intervals.
Accordion fold each strip of paper. For each flower, start one with the accordion fold going up and one going down.
Combine two of the accordion folded paper strips together by overlapping the ends with paper adhesive.
Gather the top end of the loop of paper together and push it down together to form a paper flower.
Secure the middle of the flower with a glue gun. Hold the flower together until the hot glue dries.
Use the hot glue to adhere the photo/cardstock circle to the top of the paper medallion.
Cut dowels to length: two 6 inch, three 9 inch and one 12 inch. Use hot glue to adhere each dowel to a flower.
Wrap washi tape around the lid ring. Fill the jar with decorative pebbles and arrange the flowers to finish of the paper medallion flower bouquet.
